Yes, It can be really difficult. Especially on days when I remember that to be successful in this industry I need a good agency. It is mostly frustrating because I am so passionate about it, and I usually feel helpless.
I am glad I am a student and work at ModCloth.com, they are good distractions. Otherwise I might go crazy from just sitting around waiting for something to happen.
At the same time I wonder if I wasn’t in school or working, would I do better putting 100% into modeling. But my recent trip to NYC humbled me a little more than I expected, more discouraged than humbled I suppose.
But to be honest, if I gave up now I wouldn’t be happy. I have never before been so passionate about something. I usually go through phases with different hobbies and such, but I have been modeling for 2 years, and I haven’t gotten sick of it yet!
What’s in store now? Who knows, but my article on ModCloth seems to be getting a lot of responses! Also, I am taking a dive into freelance modeling to see where that gets me. Maybe someday I will write a book about this whole struggle… Who knows what is in store for me, and for all of you! Our futures are so bright!
I totally went off on a rant sorry about that Cheech! ;) But the answer is yes, it is. But it is worth it, and hopefully will be in the end.

Today was a pretty good day… I MIGHT have found myself a little modeling gig!! I will let you know when it actually happens, its in CALI!! So, currently I decided that I am going to have to do a lot of my modeling stuff without an agency…. Who needs them anyways right?!? Haha
But, yea I locked my keys in my car tonight, and my boyfriend came to save me!! So he is sleeping over! Yay, I cannot wait to cuddle. I am going to now!!!

My Answer: Measure yourself! Read how they measure things and you will be golden, that is how I figure out if things are going to fit me. DO NOT TRUST S, M, or L (every vendor ModCloth has available is different)!! So just read the measurements + lengths, and good luck! Let me know if you have any more questions!! My name is Mandy, and I am trying to break into the modeling world. Want to learn more about me? Read this! And pass it on.
UPDATE: I have been sort of down lately. ONLY because my agencies suck at getting back to me. I am with two, and haven’t gotten work from either. The first one is in Ohio, which is understandable because I am in PA. The second one is in PA, but I was out of the country for 3 months so I’m pretty sure they forgot about me.
I went to NYC, was denied.
Came home kept a positive spirit.
Now I am working at ModCloth.com, and going to school. I am in the process of updating my portfolio, so that should be fun! :)
Everything has been tough because, none of my agencies believe in me. I just need one person to believe in me as much as I believe in myself and it will be smooth sailing from there. I want to push boundaries like Crystal Renn does. It is just harder than I expected to get there.
Do you know anyone who could help me?
